Improving Accountability for Gender Equality in Decision-Making
The project “Improving Accountability for Gender Equality in Decision Making” was implemented with the support of the project Promotion of Democratic Society (DSP) — funded by the Swiss Office for Cooperation in Kosovo (SCO-K) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark (DANIDA) and managed by the Kosovar Foundation for Civil Society (KCSF). The project aims to improve the implementation of the Law on Gender Equality at all levels and in all sectors through the framing of legal processes as a result of non-implementation of this law. With the improvement of LBGJ, it is also aimed at improving the gender balance in employment in the public sector. The project aims to install greater accountability and accountability for the violation of the Law on Gender Equality (LBGJ) by public institutions and aims to enhance the existing legal and institutional infrastructure to advance gender integration and gender equality across the public sector. Increasing public awareness of the latest amendments to the latest legislation which mean that equality can only be defined as the 50% - 50% ratio between men and women, affects a better implementation of this legislation. As such, the project contributes on two levels, in particular to raising public awareness about 50:50 gender balances in public institutions and generally to improving the implementation of legislation and increasing institutional accountability. Consequently, with the increase in the implementation of LBGJ, it is intended to achieve an improvement in the gender balance in employment in the public sector.
The main activities of this project include:
- General project management activities
- Research on women in decision-making positions in the public sector.
- Raising the court case against the public institution that has the weakest performance in the implementation of LBGJ.
