Commemoration of International Human Rights Day
10/12/2018
The Ombudsperson together with non-governmental organizations in the Republic of Kosovo, including the Kosovo Center for Gender Studies, have undertaken a joint initiative to mark 10 December, the International Human Rights Day.
The initiative aims to send a strong message of increased, comprehensive and inter-institutional commitment to the promotion and education on fundamental human rights and freedoms, as well as undertaking joint actions with a view to developing effective cooperation for the respect of fundamental rights and freedoms of man in Kosovo.
Therefore, on December 10, 2018, in the hall of the National Theater of Kosovo, fundamental human rights and freedoms were discussed. Children's rights, youth rights, women's rights, the rights of the elderly, the rights of the Roma, Ashkali and Egyptian communities, the rights of the LGBTI community and the rights of persons with disabilities are discussed here. On all these points, the participants expressed their dissatisfaction that human rights are being violated every day in Kosovo, although the laws are very favorable. After the discussion, the motto was “Stand up for human rights”.
