ILO's Covent Support Conference on Addressing Gender-Based Violence in the Workplace

On March 14, 2018, the conference to support ILO Covent on addressing gender-based violence in the workplace was held which brought together representatives from trade unions, civil society and international organizations.

The Conference was also attended by Luljeta Demolli who together with Adelina Berisha from the RRGK presented the work of NGOs in addressing harassment and gender-based violence through research reports and projects. Shukrije Rexhepi from the OSCE Women's Network also participated in the panel, who spoke about the work of BSPK together with non-governmental organizations in Kosovo's recommendations regarding the ILO Convention.

The conclusions that emerged from the conference are:

  • Informing and sensitizing women and men about their rights and reporting gender-based violence in the workplace.
  • Closer cooperation of trade unions and non-governmental organizations with justice institutions on reporting and sentencing of persons who commit violence and sexual harassment in the workplace.
  • Increasing accountability of justice institutions and sentencing civil servants who do not comply with labour rules and discriminate on the basis of gender.
