2018 United Nations Global Open Day on Women, Peace and Security in Kosovo.

Luljeta Demolli, Director of KGSC, was one of the panelists in the second session on "Tackling structural barriers to women’s political participation". Mrs. Demolli said Gender Equality is an important prerequisite for the full realization of human rights. "The Law on Gender Equality forsees that 50% of all the jobs in the public sector at all levels be carried out by women, however the percentages reserved for women are only respected in low decision-making levels where the impact, responsibility and payment are small meanwhile men still dominate the highest levels of decision makings" she said. She also said that the discrepancy between women's participation in the electoral ballot(30%) and representation in party structures indicates that there is a need to develop affirmative policies that will ensure greater involvement of women in party leadership. Mrs. Demolli also called on the Government to encourage public companies to increase women's representation in their boards.
